Registration:  Registering As a Volunteer and for a Class

Volunteering as a referee provides a great way for those who want to help their child's team but need flexible schedules.  Volunteers are asked to referee at least four games in the fall and four games in the spring, on the days that their schedule permits.

How to Volunteer?  Three easy steps:  (1) Register as a volunteer  (2) Complete the on-line portion of referee training  (3) Attend the classroom training session.  Here's the detail:

  • Register as an AYSO Volunteer (using eAYSO.org).  This will give you an AYSO Volunteer ID number, which is needed for the next steps.
  • Register for a Class (also using eAYSO.org).  Registration is important! There are minimum and maximum class sizes.  Registered students receive pre-class materials and notifications of last minute changes.  See below for current class schedule..
    • In eAYSO.org, select "Lookup" from the blue band at the top of the screen, then "Course."  The title of the Basic Referee course is: "Basic Referee Online Companion Course."
    • We are Section 6, Area D, Region 418.
    • The roster numbers of current classes are shown below.
  • Complete the On-Line Referee Training course (available at AYSOtraining.org) prior to class.  (Review the "Check for Learning" materials available below.) Please bring the certificate of completion of the On-Line course to class (or to the field, for on-field sessions).
  • Complete the On-Line Safe Haven course (also available at aysotraining.org)  Safe Haven is a one-time requirement for all volunteers.
  • Register for and Attend a Classroom Training Session.  Classroom training courses for U08 Official and U10 Basic Referees are generally held at the AYSO office at 4507 N. Ravenswood Ave., Suite 101.

Advanced training for referees is also available.  For more information about advanced training, please contact the Regional Referee Administrator or use eAYSO.org to locate upcoming classes.

Please contact the Regional Referee Administrator, at [email protected], for more information.
