NorthWind Travel Soccer Club FAQ’s
Q: What makes the Northwind program different from the Primary AYSO Program?
A: The AYSO Northwind travel program is an extension to the AYSO Primary (Saturday developmental) Program and provides an opportunity for registered AYSO players to also compete at a higher level. It is available exclusively to registered AYSO developmental players from any region.
Q: What makes Northwind different from other travel clubs?
A:
Northwind follows AYSO principles. Therefore, every Northwind player is guaranteed to play at least half of every game.
Northwind has the lowest fees compared to other travel teams in the area yet our teams play in the same leagues as the other travel clubs: Girls play in IWSL (Illinois Women’s Soccer League) and boys play in NISL (Northern Illinois Soccer League).
Our low fees are attributable to our minimal in-house administrative fees.
Northwind's winter session is optional, so multi-sport athletes can pursue other sports from November - March.
Northwind's home field is the brand-new turf fields located on the lake front so even when the weather doesn't cooperate, the field is in top shape.
Q: Who are the Northwind Coaches?
A: Northwind uses qualified volunteer coaches to coach games, and professional MLS Camps trainers to train players. Each team is guaranteed high-quality training by an individual that is experienced in developing skills in children of all ages.
Q: What age groups will be forming Northwind teams and how does my child tryout?
A: We intend to form boys and girls teams at all of the following age groups: U9, U10, U11, U12, U14, High School. Please visit Tryouts to learn more.
Q: When are Tryouts?
A: For all U9-U19 players, tryouts will be held in early June, 2010. Please click on Tryouts for location, date, time and cut-off dates for all age groups. Please bring completed forms to tryouts.
Q: Will Northwind players need to continue to play in the Primary (Saturday) Program?
A: Yes. Northwind is an extension of the AYSO Primary (Saturday recreational) Program, created especially for AYSO recreational players who seek secondary play at a higher level of training and a higher level of competition. As such, all Northwind players are required to be registered & participating in the Saturday recreational program. Northwind players need to participate in at least half of their Primary team’s Saturday games in order to retain their place on a Northwind team roster.
Players will not be rostered on a Northwind team unless they are also registered for the AYSO recreational season. To ensure your player’s position on a Northwind team roster, make sure he or she is registered for the upcoming AYSO season by June 7, 2010. Players who register for AYSO after that date will be placed on Northwind teams only after they have been moved off of the Primary Program’s wait list and on to a Primary Program team.
Q: How much does it cost to play?
A: In addition to the cost of the Primary program ($175), Northwind players will need to pay $750 plus an additional fee of approximately $100 for a uniform and warm up jacket. For approximately $925, Northwind players can expect the same twice-weekly training sessions, same high-quality uniforms and the same # of league games during the Fall and Spring as the other area club teams.
Q: Is there an optional winter program?
A: Yes, we use Chicago Indoor Sports facilities.
