NORTHWIND SUMMER CAMP 2014 ANNOUNCED
Northwind Soccer Club have teamed up with Chicago Fire Soccer in the Community for our summer camp.
What is Chicago Northwind Soccer Club?
A: Chicago Northwind SC is an elite travel soccer program offered to both Boys and Girls, located along the Chicago Northside Lakefront. Northwind is ever-growing, with a current enrollment of 300 players on 25 teams, ranging in age from U8 through High School. Girls teams play in the highly competitive Illinois Women’s Soccer League (IWSL), while the Boys teams compete in the equally challenging Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL).
Who are the coaches?
A: Northwind currently has 50 licensed coaches and professional trainers. With player development as the primary focus, we have a player to coach/trainer ratio of 6 to 1 as an average. The ratios are even more favorable in the younger age groups. This ensures each player receives the highest level of attention as is possible to enable them to reach as high a level of performance as they are willing to seek.
What makes Northwind different from other travel clubs?
A: Soccer is the ultimate team sport and nothing leads to better player and team development than superior training and balanced playing time. With that in mind, each player within Northwind is guaranteed by club rule to play in at least half of every game. By adhering to this philosophy, Northwind ensures each player and each team ascend to their highest potential.
What is the relationship between Northwind and AYSO?
A: We are proud to be sponsored and supported by AYSO Region 418 Chicago Lakefront. This relationship makes Northwind the club for those players that have a true love for the game. When a player is in Northwind, they are a part of not just one, but two soccer teams. Not only are players able to compete at the highest levels of competitive club soccer, but they have the opportunity to share their love for the game with players of all abilities through the AYSO Primary Program. The game schedules do not conflict, thus players get twice the amount of soccer as compared to other travel soccer clubs.
What are the seasons of play?
A: There is a Fall season that runs September to November. In addition, there is a Spring season that runs April to June. All teams enjoy competition in not only their league games, but in both a Fall and Spring tournament.
How often do the teams train?
A: Each team trains twice per week for 90 minutes with their designated professional trainers and coaches during the Fall and Spring seasons. In addition, Northwind has both an integrated goal keeper training curriculum and a Speed/Agility/Quickness (SAQ) program for those seeking even more development. There is also a 12 week Winter indoor training program that each team participates in once per week from early January through March.
How are players selected to the program?
A: There is an active recruitment process throughout the Fall and Spring seasons, and Northwind holds open tryouts each spring to determine teams for the following Fall and Spring seasons. Many gender age groups have multiple teams, however we do not guarantee a roster spot to everyone who attends a tryout. Being there are limited roster spots available, players are placed on teams with those of comparable ability so as to allow them the best possible development and competitive environment.
What is the cost of the program?
A: The cost of the program is currently $1,500 per year. This includes uniforms, all league games, Fall, Winter and Spring training, 2 tournaments, plus the goal keeper and SAQ training programs. This fee is pro-rated for the High School programs that only participate in club soccer for half of the year. This makes Northwind one of the most cost-effective and comprehensive soccer programs in the city of Chicago.
