Game Cancellation Policy

AYSO Region 418 Weather Announcement and Game Cancellation Policy – Fall 2016

AYSO 418 games are cancelled when weather and / or field conditions are unsafe for participants. Games will not be played when the regional board determines that:

  • It has been less than 30 minutes since the most recent observation of lightning or thunder.
  • The fields are unsafe, including being excessively wet, muddy, icy, snow covered, uneven, or damaged turf.
  • Weather conditions are otherwise unsafe, including excessive heat, cold, or wind.

AYSO 418 is committed to determine and communicate game cancellations as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimize inconvenience to its member families, players, coaches, referees, and spectators. AYSO 418 will observe the following procedures to assure the most efficient system possible:

  • Each Friday evening before an AYSO Saturday game day, members of the regional board will review the weather report and field conditions for the following day.
  • If it is obvious on Friday evening that games cannot be played on Saturday, the Regional Board will post a message no later 10:00pm that Saturday games are cancelled.
  • If the weather or field conditions have been called into question Friday evening, members of the regional board will get together Saturday morning at 6:45am at the fields to determine if there will be cancellations that day. The board will post a message for the full region no later than 7:00am as to whether there are any cancellations.
  • Most cancellations will affect all fields for the entire day. On occasion, the board may choose only partial cancellations; in this case, the board will post a follow up message no later than 9:00am.
  • As always, if situations arise during active games that are weather or field condition related, the center referee will have the final call as to whether games are suspended or cancelled. There are no make-up games for AYSO 418.

GOAL DUTIES

If game cancellations occur, the Division Administrators will advise their coaches as to what methods of goal and corner flag transfers are to occur.
