Adult Volunteer Registration Instructions

How can I sign up to volunteer?

  • You can sign up to volunteer while you are registering your child or at a later date, by following the instructions below to add a volunteer role to your account.
  • During the registration process, select the appropriate program, division, and role that you would like to sign up for and enter all required information. If you would like to volunteer in more than one role, or coach in more than one division, you must select each role, and in each program/division that you will be volunteering for.
  • If you do not have a child in a program and have not already created an account, create an account for yourself as a Coach or Other Team Personnel With No Participants, and follow the instructions below to register as a volunteer.
  • A Level 2 background check will be run as part of every adult AYSO volunteer's registration. Adult and youth volunteers must complete a volunteer registration annually, for their desired roll.

Instructions to Submit a Volunteer Application
Returning volunteers, please note that the volunteer registration process has changed slightly for the 2019-2020 season. The registration is now a two-step process. You will select your volunteer role and complete the volunteer application in your account, the same as last year. You will then receive an email from Sterling Volunteers to complete the background check on their website, in a separate step. See instructions below.

Use a computer or laptop to complete the volunteer application, the application cannot be completed on a mobile device.

To submit your volunteer application, first log into your account and click the
Volunteer tab on the My Account menu.
1. Click the
Find Volunteer Roles button.

You might be taken to a page that does not show your desired volunteer role. Be sure to click on the Show More button. This will allow you to choose a program followed by available volunteer roles.

2. From here, click on the program you wish to volunteer for and click View Available Positions. From there you can click the division and particular role and fill out the required information for that role.

  • Coaches and Team Parents, you must select your volunteer role within the program in which your player is registered (Core Program or Winter Indoor Program). You must select all divisions in which you wish to be Coach or Team Parent, so that you can be assigned to a team in each division you wish to volunteer.
  • All Other Volunteers (Referees, Youth Referees, Youth VIP Buddies, Board Members,  etc.), should register in the "2019-2020 Volunteer Registration" Program.

Complete the 4-step order process. If you already have an account on the Verified Volunteers site, you may log in and share your valid background check with AYSO.

5. A typical Level 2 background check verification takes 24 to 72  hours. Verified Volunteers will notify AYSO when your background check is complete and your volunteer account will be updated.
