AYSO Region 418 Chicago Lakefront

Registration Dates

2019-2020 Core Program Registration: Wait List Only in most divisions.

A few spots are available in the 7U Girls, and the 14U Boys and Girls divisions of the Core Program for direct placement on teams, no waitlist! Register NOW!

Registration for the 2019-2020 Core Program Fall & Spring seasons was open May 1st through July 7th, with an Early Bird discount offered in May. We are now accepting wait list registrations for all Core Program divisions 06U through High School. Wait listed players will be accepted throughout the summer, depending on how many teams will be fielded in each division, which in turn depends on how many parents volunteer to coach teams. Accepted players will be notified by email. The registration fee will be loaded onto the accepted player's My Account page as an open balance when they are moved off the wait list, and must be paid within 7 days to confirm their enrollment.

Each team needs two volunteer coaches and one team parent. The region also needs referees to officiate the Core league games each Saturday. AYSO is a volunteer-run organization, and we ask that at least one member of each family volunteer in some capacity. There are many volunteer roles available, including roles for kids! AYSO has developed special training to help volunteers who may have little or no soccer experience quickly gain the age-appropriate knowledge and skills they need to become outstanding coaches and referees. To maintain the safety of our children and the integrity of our programs, all adult AYSO volunteers must pass a level 2 background check each year, and complete age-appropriate training specific to their chosen role.

Volunteer today! Click HERE for instructions on completing the volunteer registration.

Whew, I’ve Registered for the Core Program! NOW WHAT HAPPENS?

AYSO is entirely run by parent volunteers. Before players can be assigned to teams, the Region 418 board recruits parent volunteers to be coaches, team parents, and referees. The division administrators then assign players to teams and email the rosters to team members. Recruiting and training enough volunteers to lead all the teams takes time. To help us get teams assigned quickly, please Sign Up to be an AYSO Volunteer when you register your child for one of our soccer programs.  Two coaches are needed for each team, so you can help out the most by signing up to be a coach for your child's team. You do not need to have previous coaching experience, and you do not need to have been an elite soccer player to be a great coach. AYSO has developed special training to help volunteers who may have little or no soccer experience quickly gain the age-appropriate knowledge and skills they need to become outstanding coaches. If you cannot volunteer as a coach, there are a lot of other positions that need to be filled each season, from referees to board members. Don't sit back and wait for someone else to make next season happen, step up and make it happen by signing up as a volunteer!

Due to the size of our region and our commitment to the AYSO Core Philosophy of Balanced Teams, we cannot accommodate friend requests. Coaches can request to co-coach together, and they and their children will be assigned to the same team. Volunteer to co-coach a team with a friend! Every effort will be made to keep players from the same outdoor Fall/Spring team together and assign them to the same Winter Indoor team. This cannot be accommodated in every instance.

07U and older divisions will have one practice per week for Fall and Spring seasons, starting the week before the first game. Each team's coaches set their own practice day, time and location, and will post the practice schedule on the Team Page Calendar or the Dick's Team Manager App. The Saturday game schedule will be posted to the Team Page Calendar by the Region 418 board. 05U and 06U divisions meet at the same time each Saturday for one combined practice/game session and do not have a mid-week practice. There are no practices during the Winter Indoor season in any division, only Saturday games.

Practices are important for your player and the team’s development. Let the coach know if your child will miss a practice or game. If your child will miss all of the practices, first talk to the coach. Then email the Division Administrator to see if a team switch may be possible.

You will receive an invitation to join the team on the free Dick's Team Manager App for Android or iPhone when the coach imports the team roster to the app before the start of the season. Update your child’s RSVP for practices and games so that the coach knows who will be in attendance. You can also use the Messages tab in your account at or the Email tab in the Team Page to email the coach or team.

The registration fee includes: complete uniform - jersey, shorts, socks (only team jersey is provided for Winter Indoor); supplemental accident insurance, and team and individual pictures. In addition, you need to obtain shoes, shin guards, a soccer ball for practice, and a water bottle. Players are required to wear shin guards at all practices and games. Soccer cleats are highly recommended for proper footing on grass fields.

From the board, to the coaches and referees, AYSO Chicago Lakefront is run by volunteers! AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Be positive. Learn the rules.Volunteer. Above all, be a good example of tolerance and respect for the players and volunteers.
